Helly wrote: I know this might sound like a silly question but can someone explainto me what Runtime is or how it's used?thanksHellyMS will sell Office (standard) without Access. Then someone decides itwould be nice to have an Access database but doesn't want to shell outthe money for a copy of Access on all of the machines. Enter the'runtime'. There is an Access developers package. A developer cancreate the database; tables, queries, forms, reports, and code andcreate a 'runtime' version of the MDB. The folks get the database, andcan run it, without needing their own copy of Access.
There are somethings that are removed in the runtime that exist in the regular Accesspackage, but most can live with the limitations. We buy a special level of Ms-Access or Ms-Office.

Access 95
(Its name changesfrom version to version.)We build our masterpiece Access application. We use the special versionto create a runtime version of Access that will run our application, but is not enabled for any other capability of Access. The whole thing(quite a few files) is packaged as an installation. We send the installation to our friends or clients who do not haveMs-Access. After installation they can use our masterpiece. Then the clock strikes midnight and each of their monitors turns into apumpkin. Helly wrote: Now having another issue where I am opening Northwind (demo that comewith access) on a machine with just the runtime installed and a blankwindow appears without the db.what am i doing wrongHellyDoes Northwind specify a form to automatically open at startup? The runtimedoes not provide access to the db window so if something isn't set to openat startup then a blank screen is what you would expect to get.-I don't check the Email account attachedto this message.
